HOUSE OF FLOWERS AWARDED TOP HONORS

If Owner Jim Kolb would have thought when he opened House of Flowers in 1993 at only 22 years old that his shop would be awarded one of Teleflora’s Top 250 in all of America some 20 years later, he may have been amazed. Or, he may have thought that sounds just about right. After all Jim is a fourth generation florist, blooms are in his blood.

Teleflora, the world’s leading flower delivery service offering only hand-arranged and hand-delivered floral arrangements, set out to recognize its best of the best for their innovative designs, exemplary service, and e-Florist growth. With 18,000 members competition is tight.

This incredible honor bestowed upon House of Flowers speaks to their diligent pursuit of high standards and friendly, attentive service. Kolb says “It’s our mission to exceed our customer’s expectations from a simple hand-tied bouquet of tulips to an elaborate holiday table arrangement. We want our customers to say wow, and recognize the uniquely House of Flowers details that set us apart from the rest.”

Same day service to anywhere around the world can be made by calling (920) 235-3737 or placing an order online.

HOUSE OF FLOWERS NOW DOWNTOWN

Owner Jim Kolb can hardly count the number of times community members have asked “When are you going to open a downtown location?” Now after more than 20 years on Algoma Boulevard, Jim is pleased to announce the opening of a satellite location at the new Ski’s Meat Market on Main Street in Oshkosh.

Timing after all is everything.

A perfect collaboration has been born, and not just for House of Flowers. Ski’s Meat Market blends old school grocery where clerks greet you with a wave and a smile, timeless design in a historic setting and features the best of the region’s offerings. A perfect fit for the quality, friendliness, and innovative reputation House of Flowers has strived to achieve through the years.

Fine Wisconsin cheeses, housemade sausages, a delicious deli and fresh locally grown vegetables are just a sampling of the varied offerings you’ll now find downtown. Add to this delectable mix are the unique and “Made in Oshkosh” inspired décor, gifts and floral found in House of Flowers’ own sweet corner of the shop. House of Flowers will rotate new product routinely to keep customers wondering what will be offered next and giving new meaning to one stop shopping. Stop in and see for yourself!

PAINE GALA WOWS GUESTS

On a star studded evening in November, House of Flowers partnered with the Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh to present “The Art Deco Gala,” an evening unparalleled in the Fox Valley. The Gatsby inspired evening honored longtime friends of the Paine Jeff and Ann Trembly, and raised significant funds to support the care of the historic mansion, art collections, and gardens and the presentation of quality exhibitions and educational programs. House of Flowers owner, Jim Kolb, and Designer, Randy Brock, were part of a highly engaged committee that created the magical evening enjoyed by more than 140 guests from throughout the region.

The evening worthy of the likes of Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald and friends featured a breathtaking setting of glamour, sophistication and beauty. The black-tie affair began in the stunning carriage house, followed by a gourmet dinner prepared by Chef Peter Kuenzi and Zupppas of Neenah in the lavishly decorated conservatory, and ended with dancing in the Paine mansion bedecked in all its holiday glory.

The guests were smartly dressed in lovely gowns and tuxedos and the valet parking, fine linens, soft lighting, live piano music, and the dramatic floral arrangements of classic white hydrangeas, roses, orchids, calla lilies and peacock feathers added to the graceful grandeur of the evening.

The Art Deco Gala included a wildly popular online silent auction that featured one-of-a-kind experiences and packages as well as a front door makeover donated by House of Flowers. The online auction coupled with the extraordinary generosity of the event’s sponsors made the Gala the most successful fundraising event in the Paine’s history. President of the Paine’s Board of Trustees, Jason Lasky said of the event, “The Gala exceeded our expectations in every way and sets the bar for our future Galas. The planning committee and staff did an extraordinary job in creating an atmosphere that resulted in this being the best event in the history of the Paine Art Center and Gardens.” Owner Jim Kolb also said “We are incredibly proud to partner with the Paine and others to help make our community a more vibrant and culturally diverse place to live and do business.”

House of Flowers partners with The Paine

House of Flowers is pleased to announce that we’re partnering with The Paine Art Center and Gardens as a Lead Presenter for the 5th annual Rooms of Blooms floral show.

Floral elegance will be on full display beginning Thursday, February 27th at the Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh and runs the first 2 weekends in March.

The show will showcase the creative designs of the Fox Valley’s most talented floral designers, transforming the elegant Paine mansion into a spectacular show of flower power.

“This is the fifth anniversary of Rooms of Blooms at the Paine and it will be the best presentation yet,” said Kelli Marsicek, Marketing Coordinator with the Paine.

The event celebrates the art of floral design within the ornate rooms of the historic mansion.

Florists and designers from around the greater Fox Valley area are chosen to share their creations, including designers from Oshkosh, Berlin, Neenah, Appleton and De Pere.

Participating presenters are matched with a piece of artwork, such as a painting, or a room, and from there the magic begins.

Celebrating 20 Years!

The House of Flowers is delighted to be celebrating its 20th anniversary as the premiere choice among florists in Oshkosh. Jim Kolb, owner and fourth-generation florist, purchased the former See-Saw Flowers building in April 1993. A year later, a seasonal greenhouse was added, offering spring bedding plants and ornamentals. Soon, more space was needed, and in 1998 House of Flowers moved two doors down to 1930 Algoma Boulevard.

In November 2003, the shop completed the move to its current location at 1920 Algoma Boulevard. The full-service floral shop remains the heart of the business, with a talented staff of designers and consultants specializing in exceptional, out-of-the ordinary creations. Visitors are invited to browse in the gift shop, where they’ll discover a wide selection of treasures, including home accessories, seasonal garden décor, jewelry, handbags and gifts for any occasion.

This month, the House of Flowers has been recognized nationally as one of Teleflora’s Top 250 members. In addition, the readers of the Oshkosh Northwestern have voted House of Flowers the People’s Choice for Florist for 8 years. Jim and staff would like to thank the entire community for the support they have provided for two decades.

HOUSE OF FLOWERS CELEBRATES 15 YEARS, FOUR GENERATIONS OF FAMILY FLORAL DESIGN<

June, 2008

(OSHKOSH, Wis.) – Could floral design be in the Kolb Family DNA?

Fourth-generation florist Jim Kolb thinks so.

Kolb's company, House of Flowers in Oshkosh, Wis., celebrates its 15th anniversary this month. Kolb credits the milestone to loyal customers, supportive friends and deep family roots in the floral industry.

The family's history in floral design dates back to Kolb's great-grandfather, who started his own business in Beaver Dam, Wis., nearly a century ago.

"My great-grandfather taught my grandfather, who taught my father, who taught me." said Kolb, who launched House of Flowers in 1993, at the young age of 22. "When you're around design, flowers and plants your whole life, it becomes second nature."

Kolb has managed to apply his knowledge, mixed with natural talent, to transform House of Flowers into much more than the average flower shop or traditional greenhouse range that was the norm generations ago.

House of Flowers' offers more than the usual flower and plant species. Customers visiting House of Flowers in-store or online can also find home décor, interior design services, specialty foods, bath and body products and a seasonal garden center.

"While the floral design business and trends may change, hard work, fine design and exceptional customer service never go out of style," he said.

15th Anniversary Celebration

To celebrate their small business success, House of Flowers will hold an anniversary celebration on Saturday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring refreshments and anniversary specials on flowers, plants and gifts throughout the store.

"We wanted to come up with a way to say 'thanks' to our customers and friends for contributing to our success throughout the last 15 years," said Kolb. "What better way to show our gratitude than to host an event in their honor?"
